AELOGICA Opens New Office in EcoTower

  |  July 2, 2013

In mid-April, after a long wait, we finally opened our new office in EcoTower, along 9th Ave in Bonifacio Global City. We had an extremely busy Q2 so I am only just getting around to posting the pictures now.

We have come a long way from our humble start three years ago and boy does it feel great!

When we first arrived in Manila in 2010, we began working out of our second bedroom.

Once Eumir joined us full-time, we moved out to a temporary serviced office on Ayala Ave in Makati while we waited for a space to open up close to home in Bonifacio Global City. A couple months later, we became one of the first tenants in KMC’s serviced office in the Picadilly Star building in BGC. After one year we “upgraded” our windowed, four-person room to a no-window, ten-person room. After another full year, we finally earned enough to get out into more comfortable and productive accommodations.

Several months ago, I posted a detailed description of all the thinking that went into our office design and layout: Cave and Campfire — Our Custom Office Layout for Professional Agile Development & Pair Programming. Since we were investing for the long term, we opted to customize our layout to support our work style and mix. This is what we ended up with:

With barely a week before heading to the US for RailsConf 2013, client visits, etc., we moved in and opened the office with construction work still ongoing. I didn’t even get to see the front door put on.

Here is the glass door getting installed:

When we moved in the workers were still finishing the pantry:

Here I am hanging the clock:

A few of us tried out the campfire discussion area when one of our two friendly, local Engine Yard support people dropped by to check out the space:

Here is the cleaned-up result looking a lot like I first envisioned it:

It is a great space to host our hack nights…

Here is a full house for Philippine Ruby User Group meetup:

As you can see we are very happy with our space. If you didn’t read it go ahead and read the article describing our design requirements and process Cave and Campfire — Our Custom Office Layout for Professional Agile Development & Pair Programming.

Last pic, here is our intern, Karlo, hacking away in the “main room.”
